House league

The House League program provides boys and girls with a fun and safe environment to learn the key skills of softball (i.e., pitching, catching, running, fielding, and more).
During the season which runs from the start of May (to the end of July – playoffs are July 24 – 30 for Tball) running into August for the other divisions, players have one practice a week and one game a week. Depending on their division, teams may have a Championship at the end of the season.

All Division age groups are based on the calendar year (January to December) and all House League teams are co-ed.
Local EG Diamonds for TBall and U7 are Vivian Creek, French Park, Park Ave School, Mt. Albert Community Centre Diamonds.

TBall U7 U9 U11 U13 U15 U17 U20

TBall

For 4 and 5 year-old girls and boys (2019, 2020). This division is an 8-week program starting in late May. They will play on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:45 to 7:45 PM at local East Gwillimbury diamonds.

Format: Games and Practices are from 6:45 to 7:45 PM. Players will learn the fundamentals of softball through age-appropriate activities. Tees and bats are used for hitting and softer balls for easier handling. Players will have an opportunity to bat, and players will switch positions on the field throughout the innings. Umpires are not used at this level.

Required equipment: Glove, helmet with cage, running shoes or non-metal cleats and water bottle. All other equipment is provided.

For 6 and 7 year-old girls and boys (2017, 2018). This division will play Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 PM at local East Gwillimbury diamonds. The season starts in late May. Format: Practice 6:30 to 7:00 PM, Game 7:00 to 7:30 PM. Players are successful each time at bat as they are pitched 3 balls by a coach from their team and, if unsuccessful, will be given a tee to hit off for the remaining 2 balls. Team 1 players all bat, then teams switch. Players will switch positions on the field throughout the inning. Umpires are not used at this level. This age group has up to 12 players per team.

Required equipment: Glove, helmet with cage, running shoes or non-metal cleats and water bottle. All other equipment is provided.

For 8 and 9 year-old girls and boys (2015, 2016). This division will play Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:45 PM at local East Gwillimbury diamonds. Season starts in late May. Format: Practice 6:30 to 7:45 PM, Game 6:30 to 7:45 PM. Pitching development starts at this level; however, children are still pitched 3 balls by a coach on their team during games, for the first 2 weeks of play. After the 2 weeks the children will start to pitch 5 balls to their opponent. If unsuccessful after 5 pitches, they are considered an out. All players are equally placed in the infield and outfield throughout the course of the game. Although a formal score is not kept, 3 outs and 5 runs rules apply. One Junior umpire is provided at this level. Select is available based on coach & player interest.

Required equipment: Glove, helmet with cage, running shoes or non-metal cleats and water bottle. All other equipment is provided.

U11

For 10 to 11 year-old girls and boys (2013, 2014). U11 will play Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:45 PM. Pitchers will pitch to the opposing team. Ball size is 11 inches. Runs are counted and teams switch after 3 outs or 5 runs. All players are placed in the infield and outfield throughout the course of the game. A plate and/or base umpire is provided, based on availability. Select is available based on coach & player interest. Practices are built into the schedule.
